At 4,566 meters (14,980 ft) above sea level, Mount Meru is a dormant stratovolcano located in Arusha National Park, approximately 70 kilometers (43 miles) west of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The climb to Mount Meru’s summit typically spans four days, though it can be expedited to three days for those seeking a faster ascent.

The trek begins through lush montane forests rich with diverse flora and fauna, offering glimpses of wildlife such as colobus monkeys and antelope. However, as climbers ascend, the landscape transitions through different ecological zones, from forested slopes to open heathland and eventually to barren volcanic terrain near the summit. Then, the final push to the summit unveils panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding plains, making the effort worthwhile
