Itinerary:
5:30 AM – Pick-up from Your Hotel in Arusha/Moshi
- Your day begins early with a pick-up from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi (depending on your location).
- Your guide will meet you and provide an overview of the day’s safari adventure, making sure you’re ready to explore Tarangire National Park.
6:00 AM – Depart for Tarangire National Park
- After your pick-up, you’ll drive to Tarangire National Park (approximately 2-3 hours from Arusha, depending on traffic and road conditions).
- On the way, enjoy the scenic drive through rural Tanzania, passing local villages, farms, and landscapes of the Great Rift Valley.
8:30 AM – Arrive at Tarangire National Park Entrance Gate
- Upon arrival at the park entrance, your guide will handle the necessary paperwork and pay the park fees.
- You’ll also have a quick briefing on the park and safety guidelines before heading inside.
- Take a moment to enjoy the views and the excitement of entering the park, as the adventure begins!
9:00 AM – Begin Game Drive
- Your first game drive inside Tarangire begins, and you’ll quickly begin to appreciate why this park is famous for its wildlife.
- Tarangire is home to large populations of elephants, and it’s often referred to as the “Elephant Playground.” The park also boasts a wide variety of other wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, impalas, buffaloes, and predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs.
- As you drive through the park, you’ll also encounter the park’s iconic baobab trees, which create an otherworldly landscape.
- Your guide will help spot animals, provide information on the wildlife, and ensure you have plenty of opportunities for photographs.
11:30 AM – Stop for a Scenic Picnic Lunch
- After a few hours of exciting game drives, you’ll stop for a scenic picnic lunch at one of the designated areas within the park.
- Enjoy your packed lunch surrounded by nature and take in the sounds of the African wilderness. It’s also a great time to relax, stretch, and reflect on the wildlife you’ve encountered so far.
12:30 PM – Continue Game Drive
- After lunch, resume your game drive in the park, exploring different sections of Tarangire to see more wildlife and enjoy the changing scenery.
- In addition to elephants, Tarangire is famous for its diverse birdlife, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. You may spot ostriches, hornbills, eagles, and vultures.
- Depending on the season, you may also witness the migration of zebras and wildebeest.
2:30 PM – Visit the Tarangire River
- One of the park’s highlights is the Tarangire River, which acts as a vital water source for animals, particularly during the dry season.
- Your guide will take you to the river, where you’ll have the opportunity to observe animals drinking and interacting along the riverbank. This is often one of the best places to spot a variety of animals in the park, including herds of elephants and buffaloes.
3:30 PM – Final Game Drive
- After visiting the river, enjoy your final game drive through the park, exploring areas you might not have seen earlier in the day. This is your last chance to capture the incredible wildlife in their natural habitat.
4:30 PM – Leave Tarangire National Park
- After an exciting day of game viewing, you’ll start making your way toward the park exit.
- Your guide will ensure a smooth exit and take you back to the entrance gate where the park exit formalities will be completed.
6:30 PM – Arrive Back at Your Hotel in Arusha/Moshi
- After the game drive, you’ll begin the drive back to Arusha or Moshi, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel.
- Reflect on your day full of wildlife encounters and scenic landscapes.
